This is an intensive 5 day course which will provide the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage an investigation into corruption. The threat associated with corruption of police and public officials is increasing. This threat can seriously undermine operational activity and result in significant damage to organisational reputation and stakeholder confidence.

Course rationale

During the course the students will be exposed to the meaning and definition of corruption and approaches which will enable an effective investigative strategy to be developed. Broader discussions will include the concepts of ethics and integrity and vulnerability to corruption. The use of a range of overt, covert and internal tactics will be considered and will include the use of options such as drug testing and intelligence led integrity tests. The importance of continuing a misconduct enquiry along with any criminal investigation will be advocated and an operational case study scenario will be used to reinforce the learning outcomes of the course.
